These resources can be used as stand alone lessons or as homework to reinforce literacy skills. The story builds and unfolds to keep pupils engaged and interested, wanting to know what happens next. Resources to promote thinking about anger issues, autism, animal welfare and loneliness in the elderly. Suitable for ages 10 to 14.

This resource accompanies a PowerPoint and is presented as an examination paper as if from Hogwarts itself . It is inspired by Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Pupils are required to answer questions about various creatures, draw and label diagrams and create their own informative writing about a new breed of werewolf. Some anagrams of mystical creatures’ names are also provided as an extra activity. This is aimed at improving reading and comprehension skills whilst also encouraging wider reading. Suitable for Potter fans of all ages. Answers are included as well as a certificate including a range of scores and feedback such as "your name will be included as an addition to the were-wolf register with immediate effect." The intention of this resource is to alleviate stress when approaching real-life examinations. This resource is ideal for Father’s Day and has two poems describing dads. One dad has extremely smelly feet that stink of gorgonzola and stale underwear. The other poem describes Dad as more of a super hero type who is earth-quaking, nerve-shaking and fast talking (but only before 6pm.). Pupils will enjoy the humour and vivid imagery within the poems and will be inspired to think of adjectives that describe their own father’s finest qualities. They are asked to think of a special memory about their Dad and perhaps create their own poetry in celebration of Father’s Day. Suitable for all ages.

This animated Power Point is based on extracts taken from J.K.Rowling's Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Pupils are asked to re-write passages inserting the necessary punctuation and missing capital letters. The correctly punctuated passages will magically appear, once they have made an attempt to recreate Rowling's work. Two of the passages take the form of letters; one formal and one informal. The other extracts take the form of dialogues so that pupils will need to insert speech marks and question marks and remember to begin a new line when a different character starts to speak. Students are asked to write their own letters and have the choice whether to select a formal or informal tone for their writing. Students are required to form as many Muggle words of their own out of the letters contained within some of the principal characters' names. This resource is intended to be used when revising formal and informal letters as well as when revising punctuation in general. Other Harry Potter themed resources can be found in my shop. This resource looks at ancient broom-stick games around the world and asks students to read the information collated from Kennilworthy Whisp’s Quidditch Through the Ages and then answer a series of questions. The students will need to compare and contrast games from different parts of the globe as well as the different qualities of broomsticks which were invented as a consequence of partaking in the games. Finally students are asked to invent their own broomstick, think of a catchy name for it as well as describe its outstanding features. All answers are provided. This resource will appeal to Harry Potter fans particularly and is one of many Potter-themed resources which can be found in my shop. Suitable for ages 8+

This powerpoint tells the story of six blind men and an elephant. Each man believes he knows best about what an elephant is like, however they end up in an argument. A wise woman explains to them that they each encountered a small part of the creature in the cave and that they need to learn to see the bigger picture and listen better to one another. A useful resource to use in assembly . Suitable for audiences of 5 to 10 years of age.

This resource looks at the problems faced by sea turtles in our polluted world and asks pupils to think of ways in which they might help creatures such as these. There is a how to guide on drawing a sea turtle and also a further investigation worksheet on finding out what sea turtles like to eat. This resource would support study of seas and oceans and conservation issues. I include a Planet Patrol puzzle which has over twenty interlocked words to find concerning endangered animals. This could be easily differentiated to suit age and ability. All answers provided. This resource compliments other resources available in my shop. Suitable for ages 8+

This resource outlines the development of the broomstick as an instrument for racing. The information is taken from Kennilworthy Whisp's Quidditch Through The Ages. Pupils can see how the various models of racing broomstick have developed through the ages from the humble Oakshaft to the Twigger 90, each model has its qualities and flaws outlined for all to see. Pupils compare and contrast between the broomsticks in order to glean enough information to answer the questions relating to each text. Two texts and differentiated questions are supplied with answers provided for both. Pupils are invited to go on and invent their own racing broomstick and build on the qualities of the Nimbus or the Moontrimmer, thinking of a catchy name for their own creation. This resource will appeal to Quidditch players of all ages.

This resource is a newspaper article about police endeavours to control groups of teens gathering in public places. There are questions related to the article and students are asked to write their own response to a government policy to ban unsupervised youngsters from gathering together in groups in public spaces. This is intended as a means of revising features of an article in the tabloid press and analysing loaded language. Students are asked to highlight features within a short example of an article written for a magazine discussing what life is like for a teenage girl in the 21st century. Ideal for revision purposes and will promote further discussion. Suitable for ages 12+

This word document accompanies the PowerPoint presentation on bioluminescence which can be found in my shop. This resource can be used together with the Power Point or as a stand alone activity. Pupils are given detailed information explaining what bioluminescence is and, in particular, how marine creatures such as the firefly squid use it to their advantage. Pupils are asked comprehension questions and invited to explore further by drawing diagrams or , more generally, investigating Japan and engaging in their own independent research. This resource is suitable for ages 10+ and contains scientific terminology which may require further explanation. Links are given to useful websites.

This resource is ideal for Father's Day and includes a poem about a super hero Dad who loses his heroic powers after 6pm. The fast-talking, dog-walking, all-knowing Dad becomes more of the cocoa-drinking, sock-stinking kind of guy we all know and love. Pupils can think of how their own father resembles a super hero and they are asked to supply six adjectives to describe his best qualities. Suitable for all ages and superhero fans.

This resource is a story about a King who does not listen to his adviser's words, whilst watching a spectacle involving a talented magician. The adviser proves in the end that through sheer hard work and consistent effort, he deserves his freedom from the dungeon. He uses his own words to prove a point. Pupils answer questions involving retrieving information from the text, making inferences, explaining writer's choices and composing an extended answer advising a friend who is struggling with their schoolwork. This is a resource which would be useful at this time of year when trying to encourage a good work ethic and improve performance. Answers and mark scheme are included. Suitable for ages 7+

This animated Power Point has twenty questions all to do with water and its properties. The questions test scientific and geographical knowledge. This resource includes a poem about the sea which is told rather like a riddle. This quiz can be dropped into any lesson concerning water and could be used as a resource for revision or to kick start further investigation and independent research. I include a word document about the problem of plastic waste in our seas and oceans which includes some advice from Greenpeace. Students are invited to contribute ideas of their own to help solve this growing problem and they are encouraged to design a poster outlining the issue. Suitable for ages 8+

This resource is ideal to use on the run up to Easter. It contains a crossword where all the answers are the names of well known chocolate bars. When the answers are placed correctly onto the grid the highlighted letters, when rearranged will spell out the name of a famous Roald Dahl character. Pupils are required to think about a place to go where their family would enjoy a special day out and also design their own chocolate bar thinking about the ingredients contained within it as well as the packaging. Suitable for ages 10+ I include one of my popular Spagbag quizzes which should prove useful when revising aspects of grammar, spelling and punctuation.All answers are provided for ease of marking.

This resource looks at how manatees are becoming an endangered species and how these majestic creatures have been mistaken for mermaids. There is an information text and associated questions and worksheets which will allow pupils to investigate further. One of the questions requires pupils to work out 20% of a given statistic. This resource will support World Oceans Day / World Environment Day and any investigation into conservation. Suitable for ages 10+

This animated Power point resource describes a day out at the sea-side for the Lute family who think they know all about pollution and yet show that their knowledge is as shallow as the sea lapping up against the litter with which they have decorated their sandcastle. The audience are requested to think how the family could have behaved differently and to question what their own families do on days out at the coast. Included is the famous riddle about St Ives and so the pupils can see how a small problem can be multiplied and that we should be all doing our bit by picking up the plastic one piece at a time. Ideal as a discussion starting point on the effects of pollution especially in a coastal setting and as the Summer holidays approach, a cautionary tale! This resource will stretch reading and comprehension skills as well as providing an opportunity to demonstrate maths skills at the same time… recommended for ages 8+

This quiz is based on Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Two possible answers are provided to each question. If the wrong answer is selected a mysterious forfeit is revealed. If the correct answer is selected then that leaves more precious reading time . Included is an information text about ancient broom-stick games from around the world where pupils are required to compare and contrast the evolution of various hilarious games and will be inspired to invent their own gaming broomstick perhaps. This resource will complement the reading of J.K.Rowling's book but will also appeal to Potter fans in general. This is ideal to use as a post SATS brain teaser and will encourage further reading at the same time... Suitable for ages 8+

This resource accompanies a Power Point presentation which can be found in my shop but could also be used without it. It tests pupils' knowledge about the firefly squid and their understanding of bioluminescence including photophore cells. It gives pupils the opportunity to unscramble key words from the text and to go further with their own research about oceans with specific reference to Japan. This resource would be useful for World Oceans Day but could also be used for any investigation into sea-life and ocean phenomena. Suitable for ages 10+
